Charleston Beer Garden: The buzz about the buzz on the banks
by Chris West
On June 23rd, grab your lederhosen and barmaid get-up and join the local beer geek community when Brittlebank Park will be transformed into Charleston’s first beer garden!
The festival boasts a full afternoon of beer-related activities including samplings from ten local, regional and national breweries. Local boys, Holy City Brewing will be on-hand as well as regional faves; RJ Rockers, Thomas Creek and Sweetwater. New England representatives, Shipyard and Magic Hat will join Blue Moon, Leinenkugel’s and Crispin Cider. And in a much-anticipated move, Charleston gets to welcome Michigan brewery, Founders back to the Lowcountry.
Brew school workshops will be held throughout the day and will touch upon a host of beer-related topics from beer and food pairing demonstrations, Charleston’s brewing history to home brewing techniques. There will also be live music throughout the day and food and refreshments will be available from the Charleston Food Truck Alliance and area restaurants.
